"Twist the Knife" is a brand-new song and a second lyrical collaboration with Todd Williams/Victim of Propaganda. It was inspired (at least in part) by Fresno summers, which can feel oppressive and never ending.

"Into Thin Air" was written at least a dozen years ago and imagined as a bit of a murder ballad (if not obviously or explicitly so). It's also meant to evoke a sense of place (hence the references to the 99).

There are influences in both that seemed extremely obvious in the writing, but maybe less so in the finished product.
